Voting is a very important part of America and its many freedoms. It allows the population to vote on policies, people and other things in order to work towards a future that the people believe in. However - generally speaking, you can only vote once you’re 18. While this can’t be avoided, you can set yourself up for pre-registration to get yourself ready to go once that time comes.

Pre-registration is available to those who are 16 and 17, and allows them to get ahead of the process. Once they finish pre-registration and they turn 18, they’ll be all set and ready to vote with no further paperwork needed. It’s a great way to get ahead and set yourself up to exercise your freedom to vote once the time comes.

The only requirements to start pre-registration are as follows - be a U.S citizen, and a resident of California. Additionally, you cannot be serving a prison sentence for a felony of any kind. Finally, you need to be deemed as “mentally competent” to participate in votes. More information regarding these requirements can be found here, on the official government website regarding registration and voting regulations.
